WIM BROECKX
Wim Broeckx combines his vast teaching experience with his unique advisory insight which benefits ballet schools and companies alike.
Wim Broeckx was born in Antwerp in 1961 and began his ballet studies in his native town, Antwerp, Belgium, at the age of 10.
After having enjoyed a long and successful career with three international ballet companies, most notably the Dutch National Ballet, where he rose to Principal Dancer, he became Assistant Artistic Director to this company.
During his extensive career, he has performed major leading roles of the classical repertoire and could be seen in contemporary repertoire works by renowned choreographers. Internationally he appeared regularly on international stages, as a guest artist as well as on gala’s.
In 2002, he was appointed Director of the Dance Department of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and taught at international school’s, staged classical ballet repertoire and assisted several choreographers with repertoire of Netherlands Dance Theater, as well as George Balanchine.
In 2008 he took over the position of Artistic President of the Prix de Lausanne. On several previous occasions, he has served as jury member for International Competitions.
Besides teaching classical ballet classes and coaching students and professional dancers, Wim likes to provide vocational schools with his knowledge on how to improve their education with regard to curriculum development, student pastoral care and providing a healthy work climate.
